Eight is e-damn-nough!!!

So, I know this is sooooo last week's news, but I am just now getting around to posting about it.
I'm sure you all have heard of Nadya Suleman or at least her great feat of delivering eight babies on the same day. That's is without doubt newsworthy, but perhaps the most newsworthy thing of all is that this woman is single and already had six other children at home.
*Insert all your four-letter expletives and grunts here*
Did I mention that she's unemployed and all the kids are younger than eight? I'll say it for you, "Double Damn!"
OK, so, I was trying to get myself together on this one before I gave my opinion. Part of me says, she's a grown woman and she can do what she wants. Another part of me says, how is she going to take care of all those kids by herself. And yet another part of me is concerned about her mental and emotional well-being.
Let's do the math of how she got all these kids in the first place. First off, according to the Jones Institute for Reproductive medicine, I swear it's not me, the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) success rate varies based on age and the health of both the male and female donors. I won't bog you down with numbers, but based on my research, for each of the six embryos implanted into Suleman had about a 48 percent chance of survival.
So you see, the fact that all six embryos survived, and two split to form two sets of identical twins, it is no doubt a miracle that this woman was able to carry these babies for as long as she did and that they all survived.
Given that, I say we all praise the Lord and pray for her and her family in the same breath. As a Christian, I know God doesn't make any mistakes, but giving this woman 14 children at the age of 33 leads me to believe that He blinked or sneezed or something.
That woman might as well shave her head and admit herself to a psych ward now. After this, I hope she's had her tubes tied, cut, clipped and burned so that this does not happen again and whatever "friend" she's been getting sperm from needs to stop giving it to her.
Now, the state of California is "probing" into why she was allowed to have more than four embryos implanted at once and they are investigating her doctor. Quite frankly, I think these people need to get out of this woman's uterus and work on something that matters like the damn economy!
The only reason this is even an issue is because this woman is single and because she is unemployed. My question is, who the freak isn't unemployed or in danger of being unemployed? The bottom line is she was impregnated seven months ago, where were all these people then?
They didn't have any reason to step in then and they don't have any reason to step in now. Leave that woman and her uterus alone and let her hit Oprah and Ellen to get some free diapers and clothes and stuff for those kids. She's gonna need it.
In a few interviews last week, Suleman told reporters that she's always wanted a big family to make up for the fact that she was an only child. And she also had three miscarriages over a seven-year period.
This is why I am concerned about her emotional state because from what I understand, once you've lost a baby, you never really recover. Plus, I watch "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" and "Then Came Six" and I see what those families go through with two parents in the house, God only knows what she will go through by herself. My heart goes out to her, it really does.
*SMH*
On a side note, she said she plans to breast feed them all, is it just me or do you think her nipples are going to fall off?

well, while you make some valid points about there being more important things to focus on...i do feel like some attention does need to be given to this matter.

first of all, her being single is of no consequence. its the shadiness that is her lifestyle...unemployed...a professional student...living in a 2 or 3 bedroom house gifted to her by her parents...who in turn went bankrupt trying to help her care for the first SIX because she was struggling and now had to move into said house...the unethical quack who put that many embryos in her in the first place...the idea that medical progress is being abused and misused for unstable and mentally disturbed people...the obvious fame-whoring that is happening now because of these octuplets...hiring of publicists and ish...asking for $2mil for an exclusive interview....the list goes on.

see, she did not sit down with her spouse/partner and create these lives the old fashioned way. she methodically kept infusing her uterus with baby after baby each year and finally 6 embryos. this was an ELECTIVE and costly procedure. her mother JUST went on tv saying how suleman is bonkers and had barely helped with the other kids even tho she got that 6 figure sttelement for an accident. so that leads me to believe that taxpayers would somehow end up paying for these crumbsnatchers. cuz if they were struggling/bankrupt before...what the fug do they think is gonna happen now? people are not feeling this story. so the offers to help are not pouring in like that and i don't blame them. i wouldn't give her a dime either.

i'm tired of people who sit on their tails and just find ways to abuse the government and other people's kindness for their own gains and personal voids. and forget the fact that it'll cost 5 jillion dollars to raise these kids...think of how selfish the act was to implant so many embroys. most docs dont like to go over 2-3 because of the medical risks it imposes. and the effects of said risks are yet to be determined for these kids completely. they could end up with all types of developmental and/or physical setbacks due to the lack of time to bake in the oven...due to over-crowding. oh, and the $1.3-3 million it'll cost just to care for the babies while in the hospital and she has NO JOB...which means no insurance...which means public assistance/charity care or medicare or something.

i dont buy her story of not wanting the embryos destroyed because she could have donated them to a couple or person who has no children. furthermore, lets keep it funky...an embryo at that stage is not a baby. there is no heartbeat. its just some cells. frozen cells at that.

i dont feel sorry for her. i dont want to help her. i DO want child services to take those kids until she can PROVE that she can take care of them financially. depending on family and friends is not the solution. its lazy, tacky, greedy and irresponsible.

and shoot, i have one kid and she's maaaaaad expensive. i'll take some free stuff any day! oh, but i'm an able-bodied responsible person so me and my husband are on our own....

not feeling this hyper-breeder at all. and if she didnt want the criticism, she and her ran-over uterus should have stayed among the shadows instead of expecting a parade for this mess. there are plenty of "normal" families with a lot of kids who don't purposely thrust themselves into the spotlight like this chick.

*sorry for the rant, but this story really pisses me off*

PCD, you neh-ver cease to amaze me. OK, so, I didn't even think about how much it would cost to keep those babies alive or the fact that the already strapped tax payers in California will be taking up the cause of paying for these children.
I don't feel sorry for her either, I am concerned about her mental state and I think that renders her unfit.
I think it is time for her to hold off school so that she can get a job. Honestly, she needs a couple of jobs.
Add to that the fact that she will not be receiving any child support because this was a sperm donor and I'm almost certain there had to be some paperwork stating that she wouldn't try to sue him for support.
Either way, I'm praying for those kids, Lord knows they need it.

okay, her doctor is trying to play God and is probably money hungry. Clearly, there is something mentally unstable about her. She says she grew up as an only child and always wanted children. But she already had six at the house, so what's up the following 8? I also think she is starved for attention (i.e. selling the book rights and being interviewed on any and every tv station that will have her.).
I find it interesting that I haven't heard a lot of news about companies giving her diapers, wipes, formula and all the other stuff most moms get when they have multiples. I hate to speculate, but the reality is that she's unemployed and has been for quite some time. So who's going to pay for all these children?
Last but not least, YES her nipples are going to shrivel up and fall SLAM OFF!!

Great post!

I think it's fair to say that she has some MAJOR issues!

There are 3 things that parents must give their children...

LOVE

DISCIPLINE

EXAMPLE to follow

I dunno how she can do that for 14 kids. As a father of 3 sons, I know how demanding parenthood can be. I can only imagine how it'd be if I had 11 more krumbsnatcherz. Maybe they should take away
ALLof the kids until she can prove that she can handle this monumental task!

Who can follow PCD, GIRL PLEASE!

When I heard about this woman giving birth to 8 children my uterus hurt for her, then when I heard she had 6 at home I was wondering when they were going to check her into a mental hospital.

The more I hear about this story the more I worry about the kids, how is she going to teach 14 kids to be a productive part of society, when she is not. Her comments show that she is delusional about what really being a parent means, its not just about bringing a life into the world its about molding that person to be greater than you were.

I am a mom, of one beautiful son. At 2 he is smart, headstrong and an all around great kid and I have moments when I want to break down and cry because I don't feel like I am doing enough. What the heck is she going to do when that feeling passes over her 14 times.... My heart goes out to those kids and their grandparents. As for the mom she needs to seek help immediately.

oh gag me!! so it just came out that she is on food stamps and gets (SSI) money for 3 of her older kids because they are disabled...even though she LIED and said she received NO public assistance. apparently, she doesn't consider food stamps and SSI to be welfare. so what is? she is making this worse each day.

on another note, F-it also made a wonderful point. a lot of people who just birth children into the world think its enough to have a cute little baby who you feed and clothe. but those cute little babies grow up. and they should be taught as much as possible...and if you are a REAL parent, you would break your back trying to impart as much to your child as you can. i too, have had those moments she spoke of when i'm like, OMG!?! am i doing enough? i want to be super mom and mold lil PCD into the best person she can be. the pressure of it is real to me and i take it very seriously.

LoL @ Shanda, I too think her nipples are gonna fall off.

@kyle I understand what you're saying and I too agree that they should take them all until she can prove that she can do for them.

@F$%k It List, you're right, PCD is certainly a tough act to follow, but you did a bang up job. I can imagine the fear you must feel while trying to parent and wondering if you're doing everything the right way. I only hope that she gets help now so that she will one day be stable enough to provide the kind of love and support those children need.

@PCD, Girl no! She is not getting SSI checks and food stamps. I wonder if she's delusional or just a liar.

She's insane. I saw her dateline interview. I don't care if she's single or married. She doesn't have a job; she's not getting disability anymore; she's run out of student loans and the only income she has is disability payments for her special needs kids and a few hundred bucks in food stamps. And frankly, I don't think taxpayer dollars should go to taking care of her kids when she went out and deliberately had in vitro.
