Shortly after Noon today, our country will be calling a black man, "Mr. President." How awesome is that?
Yesterday was of course Martin Luther King Jr. Day and of course because both are great leaders who happen to be black men, they were compared. Because of the effect Obama has had on the public with his gorgeous looks and his celebrity appeal, he's been compared to John F. Kennedy.
Now, because one of Obama's political heroes is the nation's 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, and he's using Lincoln's Bible to be sworn in, he's being compared to him. Anybody seeing a pattern here?
Look closer. While all of these were excellent men and great leaders, they were all assassinated. Think about it.
I don't like these comparisons, not one bit! I'm superstitious and I need ya'll to stop it with these damn comparisons. Let the man get to work first. Give him some time to get into the swing of things. Don't immediately start comparing him to dead predecessors, that bad policy and I don't want ya'll to give these racist crazies any ideas.
If you need to compare him to previous leaders, say how he's smarter than Dubya. Say he's got more integrity than Richard Nixon and how unlike Ronald Regan, he's got everyone's best interest at heart.
Better yet, don't compare him at all. Instead of being the next Somebody Else, let him be the first Barack Obama.
